Is It Feasible Not to Go to Work?

It's okay not to go to work, but you've got to engage in production activities.

The concept of "going to work" has only emerged in the past few decades or centuries. It's totally fine not to go to work, as long as you have your own means of survival and sources of income.

In other words, you need to have the ability to survive in this society and the world, whether it's farming, doing handicrafts, running a business, providing services, starting a venture, or selling your time.

There are quite a few people who stay at home full - time to take care of kids or family members. Personally, I don't really recommend this.

It doesn't matter if it's moms or dads. Staying at home full - time without your own source of income is very risky.

This so - called risk has two aspects: one is the personal level, and the other is the family level.

On the personal level, when you have no income, it means you'll lose a large part of your say and economic power.

You have to bear your own pain and enjoy your own happiness. You have to deal with these things by yourself. Others can only give you a hand, but they can't fundamentally change anything.

On the family level, it's about stability.

If a family's income only depends on one person, there will be a great deal of uncertainty and instability.

Just like we not only need our main job income but also need to develop side - job income. The principle is the same. It's all about hedging risks and increasing the income ceiling.

The same goes for a family whose income completely depends on one person. There are also huge risks.

So, whether from a personal or family perspective, this approach isn't very reasonable. Of course, everyone's situation is different. This is just a simple and general idea.

If you don't engage in any production activities, it's easy to become disconnected from society.

Once you stop producing and creating value, your connection with others is likely to break, and you'll also lose the chance to grow.

This doesn't mean you'll completely lose your social life. After all, many people who don't make money or engage in production activities might still have a good time. But the premise is that their family is very wealthy and they don't lack material resources at all.

In this case, they can learn and enjoy life based on their interests, and even find their own value, creating value in a fun way, although this value might not be immediately converted into income.

But this kind of situation usually happens by birth or with extremely good luck. It's something that can't be easily achieved.

For ordinary families, once you don't go out to work, it's easy to get trapped at home and caught up in family chores.

As a result, most social opportunities are gone, and the possibility of growth is also lost.

Slowly, you'll have no common topics with the people around you, gradually lose your sense of existence, and won't know what your self - worth is or what you can do. Even, it might directly destroy a person's confidence.

For example, a very common scenario is asking for money with an outstretched hand.

This will subtly destroy a person's self - esteem and confidence.

Economic strength, savings, or the ability to make money are indeed a person's confidence at present. There's no doubt about this, and it's always been the case from ancient times to now.

Having money and power can be collectively referred to as social survival ability.

It's just that in today's social environment and system, it mainly shows as money and power.

To sum up the question at the beginning, can you not go to work? Of course, you can.

The key isn't whether you go to work or not, but whether you have the social survival ability.
